A swift intervention by residents of Gwagwa, under Jiwa Chiefdom in Abuja Municipal Area Council, saved a three-year-old girl from being taken away by a suspected child-stealer.
The alarming incident, coming amid a wave of reported child disappearances in Gwagwa and Jiwa, occurred when locals spotted a woman attempting to leave the community on a commercial motorcycle with the toddler.
Quick action from neighbours and community leaders prevented mob justice and ensured the suspect was handed over to security authorities for investigation.
With more families reporting missing children in recent weeks, community leaders and rights groups are urging parents and guardians to remain extra vigilant and to report suspicious movements immediately.
