Nigerian street-hop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has urged the government to ban prank videos after being involved in a recent altercation at Port Harcourt International Airport.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, quickly went viral after a 53-second clip surfaced online showing the Zazu Zeh crooner dressed in beige attire as he attempted to confront an unidentified individual. The tense exchange drew a crowd of onlookers and airport personnel.
In the video, security guards in blue uniforms can be seen restraining the visibly agitated singer, pulling him away toward a waiting vehicle in the airport’s parking area. The chaotic scene included pushing and shoving, with one person appearing barefoot and another brandishing what looked like a belt or whip as bystanders gathered to watch.
Reacting to the viral footage, Portable took to Instagram on Monday to explain his side of the story. He claimed that the confrontation stemmed from an encounter with “death pranksters” — content creators who stage fake death scenarios for online views.
“Those people came to prank me. They were death pranksters. It almost turned to cultist level. Ten yellow no fit stand one blue,” Portable said in a mix of English and Yoruba, seemingly boasting about his resilience during the scuffle.
He further expressed frustration over what he described as the reckless behavior of pranksters and the spread of misinformation by online bloggers.
“Make government stop all those prankers and some fake bloggers. Make them stop all this fake news post just because of small fame. Why una dey spoil person wey get glory name with una platforms?” he wrote.
