Ex-Super Eagles Star Yakubu Aiyegbeni & Wife Part Ways After 16 Yrs

Former Nigerian international footballer Yakubu Aiyegbeni and his wife, Yvonne Lameen Ikhana, daughter of ex-Green Eagles legend Kadiri Ikhana, have officially ended their 16-year marriage amid reports of infidelity and irreconcilable differences.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, finalized their divorce over a year ago, with court documents citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation. However, sources close to the family described the split as “messy and emotionally draining,” particularly for Yvonne, who was said to have endured years of heartbreak.

According to insiders, Yvonne allegedly walked away from the marriage after discovering multiple instances of infidelity, some involving people within her own circle of friends. Reports claimed that the former Everton and Portsmouth striker’s alleged unfaithfulness became unbearable, with whispers that his generosity and charm often drew unwanted attention from those around them.

In September 2021, the couple appeared to still be united when Yvonne celebrated her 40th birthday and shared cheerful family photos, writing, “This was meant to be an actual family portrait, but we chose to be naturally happy instead.”

Despite the picture-perfect moment, cracks in the relationship reportedly deepened behind the scenes. The court awarded Yvonne a significant financial settlement, which Yakubu was compelled to pay despite his reported reluctance to end the marriage.

The pair are said to no longer maintain cordial relations, marking a sad end to what was once one of football’s admired unions.
