Kebbi Lawmakers Deny Importation of Thugs, Call for Malami's Arrest

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has strongly refuted allegations made by former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, accusing the state governor of importing political thugs and mercenaries.

During an emergency press conference in Birnin Kebbi, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman, described the allegations as baseless, unfounded, and mischievous.

Usman emphasized that Kebbi State has a reputation for being one of the most peaceful states in the country and that attempts to tarnish this record are an attack on the government and the people of Kebbi State.

He stated that the allegations are designed to distract the government from its developmental strides and incite fear and tension among the populace.

The Speaker maintained that the Kebbi State Government has no history or agenda of importing political thugs or mercenaries, and that security agencies operating in the state have not reported any intelligence linking the government to such activities.

He described the allegations as malicious and entirely without proof.

Usman called on the people of Kebbi State to remain calm and urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the claims.

He also demanded that Malami be prosecuted if found culpable, to serve as a deterrent to others.

The Kebbi State House of Assembly’s denial of the allegations highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state.

The demand for Malami’s prosecution underscores the need for accountability and responsible behavior in public discourse.
