Chef Hilda Baci unveils quantity of ingredients for world’s largest jollof rice

The quantity of ingredients required to cook the world’s largest jollof rice, organised by the record-holding chef Hilda Baci, surfaces as tension builds up.

The Guinness World Record attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice kicked off on Friday with the cleaning of a 22,619-litre pot, roughly 6 meters in diameter.
While preparations are ongoing at the Eko Hotels, where the cook-off is ongoing, a video circulating on social media captured the humongous size of the ingredients made available for the jollof rice.
The ingredients include sacks of pepper, tomatoes, onions, kegs of vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato purée and many others, all in large quantities. There is no doubt that a cook-off of this magnitude will require a sufficient number of hired hands to handle unwrapping of seasoning cubes, sorting and cleaning of pepper and tomatoes, dicing of onions and many more.
The chef’s specially constructed 22,619-litre pot, roughly 6 meters in diameter, is designed to hold enough jollof rice to feed about 10,000 people.
The event, held in Lagos, is set to combine culinary spectacle with community service. Hilda plans to use 250 bags of rice in the massive pot, which she hopes to fill to about 80%.
The effort isn’t just for breaking records; the cooked food will be shared with attendees and donated to charitable causes.
