Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, were among dignitaries that paid moving tributes to the late doyen of journalism, Dr. Doyin Abiola.
At the service of songs in Lagos, encomiums poured in for the late Amazon, who was the first female newspaper editor in Nigeria and Managing Director of Concord Newspaper Group.
Osinbajo, who shared pictures of the event, wrote: “A celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Doyin Abiola, a beloved aunty, courageous patriot, and tireless fighter for democracy and the rule of law, was held yesterday in Lagos.
“We pray for God’s abiding comfort for her daughter, Doyinsola Abiola Tobun, her husband, Bamise Tobun, their children, and the entire Abiola family.
“The gathering drew dignitaries and close friends, including the Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Hon. Minister of Solid Minerals, Mr. Dele Alake; Dr. Abiola’s goddaughter and Hon. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; the Secretary to the Government of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; and Pastor Godman Akinlabi, Senior Pastor of The Elevation Church.”
