Tinubu’s Development Plans: Driven by National Interest, Not Politics – Information Minister

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, recently shared that President Bola Tinubu’s focus on national development is solely aimed at improving the lives of everyday Nigerians, not driven by party politics. He made these comments during a meeting with the Information Commissioners from all 36 states in Abuja.

Idris stressed that President Tinubu’s development agenda prioritizes the welfare of all citizens, across party lines. Whether a state is governed by the ruling party or opposition, Tinubu’s government has rolled out major projects and reforms to tackle the country’s challenges and improve lives.

The Minister specifically highlighted the removal of the fuel subsidy as a key example of how the President’s policies are reshaping Nigeria’s future. Idris explained that this bold move freed up substantial financial resources, which allowed states to launch essential projects that directly impact the well-being of their people.

Idris also pointed out that before Tinubu came into office, many states struggled to pay salaries, and a huge chunk of the federal revenue went towards servicing debts. However, thanks to the President’s forward-thinking reforms, these issues have been addressed, restoring fiscal balance and opening up new opportunities for development.

He urged state governments to join forces with the President to further the country’s progress, ensuring that the benefits of these reforms reach every corner of Nigeria. According to Idris, the journey toward national prosperity is a shared responsibility, one that all Nigerians and their leaders must participate in to achieve lasting success.

Looking forward, the Minister shared plans for the Federal Government to visit key states in the South-South and North-East regions. These visits will focus on assessing ongoing federal and state projects, while also gathering feedback from citizens as part of an effort to ensure transparency and accountability.

Finally, Professor Usman Tar, the Information Commissioner from Borno State, emphasized the commitment of the Commissioners to support the government’s unity-focused initiatives. He reiterated that regardless of political differences, the Commissioners are united in their mission to promote national unity, values, and integration.
