Gov Bago dissolves cabinet, says nobody can lobby for reappointment

Governor of Niger State, Rt. Hon. Umar Bago, Monday dissolved his cabinet directing all affected Commissioners to hand over immediately to Permanent Secretaries of their various Ministries.

The Governor announced the decision during the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber in Minna.

New Telegraph gathered that some aides especially Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, some Special Advisers were retained.

It should be noted that Saturday 30th August made it two years the Council was inaugurated.

Findings by our Correspondent have it that the Governor warned the affected Cabinet members not to indulge in any form of lobbying so as to get reappointed.

According to him “nobody can lobby me; as you leave here, hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of your various Ministries.”

“All Permanent Secretaries are to take charge of Ministries in a week or two when I will constitute a Council.”

He however commended them for their services so far rendered towards the development of the State saying “some have performed superlatively, some abysmally but that is not to say it was not good”.

Furthermore, Governor Bago disclosed that some Permanent Secretaries have been on a place for too long.
