A cleric, Evangelist Joshua Nudegbesi, on Sunday urged religious and spiritual leaders in the country to desist from worshipping worldly things and turn to God.
The cleric disclosed this during an Adult Harvest and Thanksgiving ceremony in Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Saint Jacob Nudegbesi Momerial Cathedral Tube Parish 1 in Tube, Ogun State.
According to Joshua, who is also the Chief Host, when we continue to worship worldly things the havoc will continue.
“It is written in the Bible, Seek ye the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all things would be added to it.
“But the problem we are having today is as a result of worldly things, when you seek material things you will go and look for the gods not God.
“So what we have to do is to turn to God and we should stop using scripture to play upon the intelligence of our followers.
“The very moment we see God and know what He is doing and give Him everything, He will do everything for you.
“He will fight your battles for you and you will have your peace,” he said.
On security challenges in the country, he urged the people in charge arms and ammunition to buy sophisticated weapons so that Nigeria military can defeat the insurgency.
“If those in charge of the armory is purchasing the best armory when we are fighting battle the insurgency, they will retreat and go back to where they are coming from.
” But when we go to the battle with under armed weapons and fight those with sophisticated weapons there is not way we can win, that is the situation prayer cannot win situations like this,” he said.
The evangelist urged Nigerians to be honest with one another so that there would be peace in the country.
The Chairman, Ipokia Local Government Area, Ogun State, Mr Johnson Avoseh said the relationship among religious leaders in the council is cordial.
According to him, when Christians are celebrating, you will see all set of people here even traditionalist, they will all come out to celebrate with them.
“In Ipokia, there is no crisis because there is no family in ikokia local government that does not have the three religions spread within the family.
“So we relate well within ourselves, and the Christian circle the kind of relationship that exist between all the sect of Christians is very cordial,” he said.
The Chairman said Nigerians involved prayers in many unnecessary things.
According to the chairman, we involve prayers in certain things that are not necessary.
“For Instance our people don’t need prayer to get clean water, these are the things we should be able to do by ourselves
“Also, we don’t need prayer to get a motorable road these are things we can do by ourselves, they don’t require prayer,” he said.
In his sermon, Pastor Emmanuel Agosuh, a cleric from CCC First Cathedral Parish, Ijofin, urged Nigerian youths to look for a good job instead of searching for wealth and riches.
According to him, the quest for wealth has led many youths to destruction and untimely death.
