Anambra 2025: AA candidate warns against vote buying

Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, AA, Ozo Jeff Nweke, has described vote buying as the bane of good governance in Nigeria warning electorates that their grave consequences of accepting money for vote .

Nweke also posited that whatever money spent through vote buying would surely affect the provision of basic infrastructure for the masses adding that elected office holders should not be blamed for the absence of social security.

Nweke who spoke at the Thanksgiving service at Hear The Word Of God By Fire Ministry Awka explained that politics and governance are for service to humanity adding that whatever mistake that is made in November 8th gubernatorial election would set the stage backwards.

“,We are here for Thanksgiving but I must tell you that this election period politicians would be moving about on campaigns but for you the voters you would be expecting to get N1 million each and you will go home happy; but I must tell you that this is momentary and it doesn’t last “

“The money you collect today means that you have collected your own share of basic infrastructure and you have collected your own social security and you don’t have that moral justification to challenge that politician for not providing you with good road network, medical services and quality education “

“As we take our campaigns to God Almighty we should pray that God will give not only good leaders but electorates that would deemphasize money politics and vote buying and vote for the right type of leadership that would impact positively on the lives of people ” he said.

Nweke further urged elegible voters that do not have voters card to exploit the opportunity provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to go and register in order to perform their civic responsibility.

“While you attend and listen to politicians please endeavor to go and register and obtain your voters card so that you can perform your civic responsibility as a law abiding citizen and elegible voter.

“You cannot say you are supporting someone yet you do not have your voters card and you are not a registered voter and that means you won’t not be among those that would enthrone populist governance in Anambra state ” he said.
