Lagos, Osogbo, Abuja areas to experience 4 day power outage 

The Ikeja Electric has alerted its customers in Lagos that areas fed by Omotosho-Ikeja West 330KV transmission line will experience intermittently power supply and load shedding from Monday July 28 to Thursday 21, 2025.

This was contained in a public notice by Ikeja Electric Management on Frday titled: “Planned power outage due to TCN maintenance.”

It read: Planned power outage due to TCN maintenance:

Dear esteemed customers, please be informed that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330KV transmission line from Monday July 28 to Thursday 21, 2025 between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm daily.

“During this period, customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across our network due to the planned TCN outage. We sincerely regret any inconveniences this may cause.”

It was gathered that the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330KV transmission line services areas in Lagos, Abuja, and Osogbo axes. When the line tripped some time ago, it caused a cascaded outage affecting these regions.

Some specific areas impacted by the transmission line’s outage include: Lagos Area: The outage affected the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies, resulting in significant load shedding within their franchise areas. Ikeja Disco customers experienced poor power supply, particularly in areas supplied from the Akangba Transmission Substation.

In the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Area, the city was among the areas affected by the cascaded outage.

Also Osogbo was another region impacted by the outage.
