The Federal Government has selected top Treasury Officers to oversee funds approved for over 40 donor projects across the country.
The chosen Treasury officers are currently undergoing a retreat in Abuja organized by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) . Addressing Treasury Officers on Thursday at the Federal Projects Financial Management Department’s Retreat, Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) Shamseldeen Ogunjimi tasked Treasury Officers
to consider the assignment as sacred.
Represented by Director Finance and Administration Mr. Akuagwu Raphael Chucks , AGoF said: ” You have been entrusted with not just Public Funds, but Borrowed Funds which must be repaid in time, either in ours or that of our children.”
“It is a privilege that you have been chosen among the many Treasury Officers in the country to safeguard the future of this great nation as the first gate keepers of critical Public funds as represented by the over forty (40) Donor Funded Projects.”
He encouraged the Treasury Officers that “the Government is solidly behind you as you execute your given mandate in contributing your quota towards achieving your various Projects Development Objectives (PDOs).”
The AGoF urged the Treasury Officers “to see this retreat as a crucial platform for reflection, collaboration and strategic planning to address some critical aspects of Federal Projects Financial Management.”
He pleaded with them to “explore innovative solutions and share best practices aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability and efficiency in the financial management of Federal Projects.”
In this retreat, let us be guided by a shared vision; to strengthen the financial stewardship of our nations’ resources. We must not forget that this is an era of increasing complexity and scrutiny in public finance, making our role ever so important.
We have the responsibility to uphold the highest standards of integrity as we manage public funds and to ensure that our Projects deliver value to the citizens we serve. I encourage each one of you to actively engage in discussions, share your insights and learn from one another.
Let us leverage this opportunity, not only to enhance our skills, but also to foster relationships that will propel us towards achieving our various Project’s Development Objectives (PDOS).
As you navigate the challenges and opportunities in our various Projects, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence, knowing the OAGF is solidly behind you. Together we will pave the way for innovative financial management practices that will positively impact our nation’s development.
