SGF’s Office Denies Appointment of Yomi Odunuga as Media Adviser

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has dismissed reports claiming Yomi Odunuga was appointed Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has officially denied widespread media reports suggesting that Mr. Yomi Odunuga was appointed as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

The reports, which circulated across various online and social media platforms, claimed that Odunuga had been named the spokesperson for the SGF.

However, in a statement issued on Saturday, July 12, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Segun Imohiosen, clarified that no such appointment was made.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the appointment of Special Advisers at the Federal level is the exclusive prerogative of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” Imohiosen stated.

He urged the public to disregard the “unverified reports,” describing them as attempts by some individuals to mislead the public for personal or political gain.

The SGF’s office also advised media outlets to rely solely on verified information, which would always be communicated via official statements signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations.

As of now, there is no formal announcement from the presidency or the SGF’s office regarding any change in media personnel. The statement reiterates the importance of due process and credibility in official communications.
