Outrage as Police Officer Caught Beating Wife in Front of Crying Children in Viral Video

A disturbing video showing a Nigerian police officer violently assaulting his wife while their children begged him to stop has sparked nationwide outrage.

The video, which surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), shows the officer repeatedly punching his wife and pinning her to the ground as their children cried and tried to intervene. Despite the woman’s screams and the children’s desperate pleas, the man continued the brutal assault.

Many Nigerians online expressed shock, anger, and heartbreak at the incident. The children’s emotional cries, especially that of a little girl in a pink dress and another trying to physically stop their father, left viewers devastated.

One X user, @DavidsonCole3, wrote:

“Unbelievable! This is so heart-wrenching to watch! In front of the children who were begging him? It will take a miracle to repair the psyche of these children. He should be jailed!”

Another user, @kneegrow__, added:

“The thing getting him angry is at work, but he came home to pour it out on his family.”

While some commenters called for the arrest of the officer, others criticised the person recording the video for not stepping in to help.

@tobilish said:

“As much as we appreciate evidence, the person recording is also culpable. If he couldn’t stop the man, he could at least have removed the children from that scene.”

Police spokesperson Prince Moye (@Princemoye1) also reacted to the clip, urging immediate action if the man is truly a police officer:

“Please, if truly he’s a police officer, he needs to be arrested.”

The Nigeria Police Force has yet to release an official statement, but pressure is mounting for a swift investigation and appropriate disciplinary action. Many Nigerians say the case highlights the urgent need to address domestic violence, especially among law enforcement officials.

The video has left many questioning the mental health and emotional stability of officers who are entrusted with protecting lives and upholding the law.
