With the Lagos local government elections set for July 12, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilize voters and secure victory over opposition candidates.
Speaking at the APC Lagos West 2 Senatorial District mega rally held in Ijanikin, the governor — represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat — emphasized the importance of voting massively for APC candidates.
He encouraged members to take pride in the progress achieved under the APC, saying,
“Let’s not disgrace our leaders. No other party in Lagos is doing what we are doing. There are many completed and ongoing projects to be proud of.”
Sanwo-Olu added that while placards and rallies are good, using your PVC to vote is even more important.
Also addressing the crowd, APC Lagos Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi said the people should show appreciation for all the development brought by President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu by voting massively for the party.
“We need your votes. Nothing else. This is the time to unite and support our candidates,” Ojelabi said.
He urged religious and community leaders, market traders, and youths to rally support for the party.
Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, head of the APC campaign council, also encouraged unity among party members, including those who may feel aggrieved.
Senator Musiliu Obanikoro noted that these local elections would set the pace for the 2027 presidential election, while former deputy governor, Princess Sarah Sosan, urged women to come out in large numbers to vote.
The rally saw a massive turnout of APC leaders, supporters, ethnic group representatives, traders, and lawmakers.
