As the July 12 local government elections approach in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has launched an Independent Campaign Group (ICG) to support All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates. The group, which is fully self-funded by Jandor, aims to promote APC’s chairmanship and councillorship flag-bearers across all 377 wards and 57 LGAs/LCDAs in the state.
The campaign group comprises over 450 community leaders, youth volunteers, and committed APC members. During the launch event in Lagos, Jandor stressed that the initiative is about ensuring quality leadership and bridging the gap between communities and elected representatives. He said that the ICG is not about personal ambition but about building stronger political structures that reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
The event was graced by notable figures including Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, who officially inaugurated the campaign group. Other dignitaries present were APC State Deputy Chairman Moshood Maiyegun, former PDP Deputy Governorship candidate Safuratu Abdul-Kareem, and former Lagos PDP Deputy Chairman turned APC stalwart, Chief Ola Apena.
Jandor’s campaign structure includes state, local government, and ward-level coordinators who have already begun community mobilization, townhall engagements, and outreach efforts to ensure widespread support for APC’s candidates. The campaign is built on the message of continuity, inclusion, and good governance, aligning with the broader agenda of the APC in Lagos State.
This initiative marks a significant political shift for Jandor, who was once a PDP flagbearer in Lagos. His transition into APC and strong grassroots organization reflect his continued influence and evolving role in Lagos politics.
