Petrol Now N955/Litre as NNPCL, Marketers Hike Prices Across Nigeria

Fuel prices climb to N955 per litre, hitting wallets hard across Lagos, Abuja, and other cities.

Nigerians are facing a fresh hike in petrol prices as filling stations, including those owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), increased their pump rates across the country on Monday, June 24, 2025.

In Abuja, NNPCL retail outlets raised petrol prices to N945 per litre, while in Lagos, prices jumped to N915 per litre. Independent marketers took it a step further, with some stations selling fuel as high as N955 per litre in the capital city.

The price surge follows an earlier increase in ex-depot rates by the Dangote Refinery, which raised prices from N825 to N880 per litre, sparking ripple effects throughout the sector.

In various parts of Lagos and Ogun states, petrol was sold between N915 and N950, depending on the marketer. Partners linked to the Dangote Refinery, such as MRS, Heyden, and AP, sold at an average of N925 in Lagos and N935 in Ogun.

In Abuja, major stations like A.Y.M. Shafa, A.A. Rano, and NIPCO adjusted prices to N955 per litre, while others such as Optima and MRS settled at N945.

Our checks showed that many stations raised their pump prices even though they were selling old stock, citing fear of market instability and price shifts.

In Lagos, stations across Igando and Badagry areas were selling petrol for N915, while TotalEnergies hiked theirs to N910. Some private outlets like Oluwafemi Arowolo Petroleum in Iba were selling as high as N920 per litre.

Depot operators also confirmed that ex-depot rates in Lagos have now hit between N920 and N925, with some selling as high as N940 per litre depending on location and supplier. Rising crude oil prices and global demand were cited as major reasons for the steady increase.

This fresh round of fuel price hikes is putting more pressure on Nigerians, many of whom are already struggling with rising transport fares and food prices.
