The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the long-awaited repair works on the Ogudu‑Ifako Bridge. The project, which was earlier delayed, is now set to begin on Saturday, June 28, 2025, and will last until Wednesday, October 15, 2025, covering a total of 110 days.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the repair work will be done in eight phases. Each phase will involve partial lane closures and will only affect a 50‑meter stretch before and after the active work zone. The first four phases will cover the section of the bridge leading to Alapere and will run from June 28 to August 16. The remaining phases, targeting the part heading towards Oworonshoki, will begin on August 16 and end on October 5.
To ease the pressure on motorists, alternative routes have been announced. Drivers coming from Iyana Oworo can go through Gbagada to connect Anthony and access Ikorodu Road, while those coming from Eko Bridge are advised to take Funsho Williams Avenue to reach their destinations. Osiyemi said that LASTMA officers will be on standby throughout the project to help manage traffic and minimize inconvenience.
He urged all road users to cooperate with officials, follow directions, and plan their journeys ahead of time. The bridge repair is part of the state’s broader commitment to improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer travel for all residents.
