President Bola Tinubu has strongly denounced the gruesome killing of wedding guests in Plateau State, labeling the act as both “barbaric” and “unacceptable.”
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and ordered security agencies to waste no time in tracking down those behind the attack.
The President was reacting to the murder of 12 people, including the father and brother of a groom, who were reportedly travelling from Zaria in Kaduna State to Jos in Plateau State when they were ambushed and killed.
“The senseless killing of innocent citizens is a direct attack on our shared humanity. I have directed the Nigerian Police and other security and intelligence services to collaborate and ensure the killers are arrested and prosecuted without delay,” Tinubu said.
He emphasized that the Plateau State Government must act decisively and work hand-in-hand with security operatives to uncover the motive behind this latest attack and prevent a recurrence.
President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that the right to move freely within the country remains sacrosanct and will be defended. “No group or individual will be allowed to disrupt the freedom and peace of our people through fear and violence,” he added.
Offering his condolences, Tinubu extended heartfelt sympathy to the grieving families, as well as to the people and government of Kaduna State, promising that the federal government will not rest until justice is served.
