The Moment Osimhen Waited an Hour for Ronaldo Selfie

Osimhen Waited an Hour for Ronaldo Selfie — Says He’d Still Chase Messi & Neymar Pics Even After a 10–0 Loss

Victor Osimhen shares his fanboy moment with Cristiano Ronaldo and why he would still chase Messi and Neymar for selfies, even in defeat.

Victor Osimhen, Nigeria’s star striker, may be one of the hottest names in football right now, but he’s not ashamed to admit he’s still a fan at heart — especially when it comes to legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.

In a recent interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Osimhen opened up about a moment he’ll never forget — waiting a whole hour just to get a selfie with Cristiano Ronaldo after a match in 2021.

“I used to say to my friends, the day I’m going to play against Ronaldo, Messi, or Neymar — these are legends, people I love so much — I’m taking a picture with them,” he said. “I don’t care, even if we lose 10-0!”

That moment came true when Napoli faced Juventus. Osimhen saw his chance and didn’t hesitate. After the final whistle, he approached Cristiano Ronaldo with just one simple request:

“Cris, I would like to take a picture with you.”

And to Osimhen’s surprise, Ronaldo agreed:

“Yeah, come to the dressing room,” he told him.

But it wasn’t that easy. When Osimhen got there, Gianluigi Buffon stepped in, asked what he needed, and explained that Ronaldo was still working out in the gym. Buffon told him to sit with him and wait — and wait he did, for nearly an hour.

“We were just talking, it was almost 30 minutes, he was not out yet. I waited for one hour, he was still working out,” Osimhen recalled.

When Ronaldo finally came out, it was worth it.

“Look at the laps and the veins — you’d think he was 25 years old at that time,” Osimhen said in awe.
“He said, ‘Great game, just keep on going.’ And I shook his hand.”

It was a moment of respect between two footballers — one a modern-day legend, the other a rising star.

Ronaldo, now 40, continues to impress fans worldwide, leading Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League and still delivering top-level performances. Osimhen, on the other hand, remains focused on his European journey — snubbing Saudi offers as he eyes a move to a major club, with Manchester United frequently linked to his name.

For Osimhen, moments like these go beyond football.

“Even if we lose 10–0,” he said, “I’m still taking that picture.”
