Social critic, Senator Shehu Sani, has advised the Kano Government to review the N1 million it announced as donation to each families of the state’s athletes who died in ghastly motor accident on Saturday.
The athletes who were returning from the National Sports Festival that held in Ogun State, were less than 60 kilometres to Kano when their bus slipped off a flyover bridge and landed aground. The impact resulted in the death of 22 persons, including athletes, officials and journalists.
The Kano government in a swift reaction, donated N1m each to the families of the deceased.
Sani, on his X handle, advises the government to raise the money. He said Kano is rich to give beyond N1 million to the families of the athletes and officials who died in active service.
He said: “One million for each of the deceased athletes is not enough.Kano is rich enough to do more than that. The deceased died in active service.”
