Police Arrest Suspect, Recover Vandalized Aluminum Wires, Accomplice at Large in Sokoto

The Gada Police Division has arrested one suspect and recovered a large quantity of vandalized aluminum conductor wires, following a patrol operation on the night of May 26, 2025.  

At about 2200 HRS, officers attached to the Gada Division intercepted a Golf motor vehicle during a routine patrol. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered a significant quantity of aluminum conductor wires suspected to be stolen public infrastructure.  

The driver, identified as Bello Namakkah, a 45-year-old male resident of Illela town, was immediately arrested. During interrogation, Namakkah confessed to having conspired with one Abu Sabo (male, also of Illela town) to vandalize and steal the aluminum wires.  

Statement issued on Friday by DSP Ahmad Rufai, the Command PPRO further stated that Namakkah has been charged with “Criminal Conspiracy, Mischief, and Theft”, Abu Sabo remains at large, and a manhunt is actively underway to apprehend him.  

 The commissioner of police CP Ahmed Musa,psc emphasized the seriousness of the incidence “Vandalism of public infrastructure is a severe economic sabotage and security threat.

 “This underscore our commitment to protecting critical assets. The public is assured that all perpetrators will face the full wrath of the law”.

The Sokoto State Police Command reiterates its zero-tolerance stance against vandalism and theft of public property. Vigilance from communities is crucial in combating such crimes.
