The stage is set for a landmark gathering of stakeholders as the maiden Owo Security Summit takes center stage on Monday, May 26, 2025. With the theme “SECURING OWO AND ITS ENVIRONS: STRATEGIES FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY AND RESILIENCE,” this pivotal event aims to chart a new course for the security of Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State and its environs.
Scheduled to hold at the prestigious Prof. Abubakar Rasheed Auditorium of Achievers University in Owo, starting from 9 am, the summit boasts an impressive lineup of dignitaries. Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Owolabi Adelami, will grace the occasion as Special Guests, while Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi (retired) will provide esteemed leadership as the Chair.
According to the Publicity Secretary Officer of the Owo Security Summit Committee, Olatunbosun Oladimeji, “The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegeshin Ogunoye III, will lead the royal fathers in attendance, solidifying the summit’s significance. Hon. Tope Omolayo, Chairman of Owo Local Government Council Area, serves as the Chief Host, while Pastor Olugbenga Olumolawa chairs the Summit Committee. Professor Taiwo Adenegan, Secretary of the Security Summit Committee, will skillfully anchor the event”.
The summit’s objectives are multifaceted: creating awareness and consciousness about community security, reducing crime rates, and improving trust and cooperation between law enforcement agents and the people. Furthermore, the committee seeks to establish a Security Trust Fund to support security initiatives and sustain security projects in Owo Local Government Area and its environs.
