Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has urged the state’s 428 intending pilgrims to dedicate themselves to acts of worship during the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
Represented by Deputy Governor Idris Mohammed Gobir, Aliyu emphasized that this would enable them perform an accepted Hajj.
The Governor also charged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Sokoto State and Nigeria, avoiding acts that could tarnish their image or that of the state.
He assured that the government would monitor their welfare while in the Holy Land.
The Deputy Governor requested the pilgrims to pray for peace in Sokoto State and Nigeria.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, stated that the first flight comprised 428 pilgrims from seven local government areas.
The Deputy Governor, along with other state officials, witnessed the departure of the first flight, which took off at 5:40 pm.
