A fire outbreak that broke out at the popular Gbagi Market, Ibadan, Oyo state capital on Sunday afternoon, damaged two shops and its goods.
A statement by the General Manager, Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Akinyemi Akinyinka, revealed that distress calls were received from officers at Gbagi Police Station, as well as, the Divisional Police Officer of the station, and several market leaders at approximately 1:23 p.m.
He said emergency response teams swiftly moved in to bring the situation under control.
“We received calls from our officers at Gbagi police station, DPO Gbagi station, and many market leaders at around 1:23 pm. Our men got their around 1: 30 p.m. Two shops were affected, but the fire has been put out by the repsonse teams. The situation is under control,” he said.
The cause of the fire could not be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
