S'Court judgement: LP holds NEC/stakeholders' meeting

Labour Party is to hold its National Executive Committee (NEC) and stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting, which was called at the instance of the party’s presidential candidate in 2023, Mr. Peter Obi, and Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti, is the aftermath of the Supreme Court judgement, which on Friday, sacked Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC).

Those listed to attend the meeting are vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Senator Yusuf Datti-Baba Ahmed, serving and former Senators and senatorial candidates of the party, serving and former members of House of Representatives and LP candidates in 2023 election.

Also invited all members of the National Caretaker Committee and National Transition Committee (NTC), all former governorship candidates who are still in the party, representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) Political Commission, and all members of the former LP National Working Committee.

According to the statement, the NEC meeting will be followed by an interactive town hall engagement with major stakeholders and other organs of the party. The venue is Transcorp Hilton Hotel.

The meeting will be the first major engagement of the party since the crisis that dogged the Labour Party since after the 2023 election.
