Nigerians shocked as president Tinubu’s aide delivers water by tanker to Bauchi residents, mounts banner

A recent photo showing Abdulhamid Yahaya Abba, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North East Region), distributing water from a tanker to residents of Bauchi Local Government Area has sparked outrage among Nigerians.
The incident, which took place on Friday, gained significant attention, particularly after a banner reading, “Water Distribution Among Communities in Bauchi LGA by SSA to the President on Community Engagement, North East Region,” was prominently displayed alongside the tanker.

The image, widely circulated on social media, shows Bauchi residents lining up with buckets to collect water from the tanker.

This scene has triggered widespread backlash, with many Nigerians questioning the rationale behind what they perceive as a short-term solution to a long-standing issue.

Social media users expressed dismay over the initiative, arguing that, as a top government official, the SSA should have focused on providing a more sustainable solution, such as constructing a borehole or a water facility, to ensure the community has consistent access to clean water.
