Don’t Incite Violence in My Name, Fubara Warns

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied any links to militant groups and warned against attempts to incite violence or economic sabotage in his name.

In a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, in Port Harcourt, Fubara dismissed trending videos alleging explosions at oil and gas facilities in the state, calling them “fake” and “malicious.”

He urged security agencies to investigate the sources of these videos and take action against those spreading false information.

Fubara pointed out that communities where the incidents were allegedly recorded had already denied any such explosions. “They have reassured that all critical government assets within their areas are safe, secure, and functioning properly,” the statement said.

The governor emphasized that he has no connection to any militant group and would never support criminal activities that could endanger peace, security, or the state’s economy.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal group or elements in Rivers State or the Niger Delta,” the statement added.

Fubara reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace in Rivers State, stating that development can only thrive in a stable environment.

He also warned individuals spreading falsehoods online, accusing them of attempting to create chaos in the state.

“Security agencies should take note of these fake videos designed to misinform the people and paint the state in a bad light. They must take necessary steps to contain them and bring those responsible to justice,” he stated.

The political crisis in Rivers State has heightened tensions, but Fubara has assured residents that he remains committed to peace and stability.
