Enugu Council Boss reiterates commitment to ending insecurity in Uzo-Uwani

The Chairman of Uzo-uwani Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ezugwu, has said that the council is determined to end insecurity in its territory.

Ezugwu reaffirmed the Local government’s unwavering faith in God and commitment to good governance. He urged for prayers for the government and people of Uzo-uwani.

Speaking at the 2025 Diocesan Cathedraticum at the Sacred Heart Parish, Nkpologu, Ezugwu welcomed the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka to the local council.

He emphasized Uzo-uwani’s deep-rooted historical ties with the Catholic church and acknowledged its profound influence on the local government’s moral and educational development.

“Uzo-uwani Council Area has a rich catholic heritage, we are among the first people that established contact with the church.

“We deeply appreciate the church’s contribution to our growth, particularly in education, moral values, and the promotion of peace,” he said.

Beyond recognizing the church’s impact, the Chairman made a heartfelt appeal for divine intervention in the local Government Area especially in insecurity.

“On behalf of Uzo-uwani Local Government Area, I ask that you pray for our government, our people and for continued peace and prosperity in our land.

“We don’t want insecurity again in our local Government Area and we are not relenting, even yesterday we caught a suspected kidnapper along Ugbene-Ajima-Eziani road.

“He was in possession of eight sim cards, when he was forced to use one, it was discovered that the owner of the sim card was kidnapped sometimes at Kogi State.”

In his response, Most Rev. Bishop Godfrey Onah, assured the Chairman and the people of Uzo-uwani of his prayers and blessings.

He commended the Chairman’s efforts on security, asking God to give him more wisdom and strength to continue his good job.
