The Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to impose a state of emergency in Rivers State.
The decision was made during a closed-door session on Thursday, which lasted about 30 minutes. Following deliberations, lawmakers passed the resolution through a voice vote.
The emergency rule comes amid the ongoing political crisis in the state, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly suspended from office.
