State of Emergency in Rivers is Unacceptable – Bode George

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has condemned the declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu.

In an interview, George said the decision of the President is unacceptable and will not stand.

He said: “It is not acceptable by any standard and the President is trying to blow up this country. There is already a Supreme Court judgement on the procedure to done before declaring State of Emergency.

“He has appointed somebody and an elected person is thrown away without any crisis in the state.

“When crisis started in Lagos State, you called them and you resolved the crisis but in Rivers State you have decided to declare State of Emergency.

“This is a clear Hand of Esau and Voice of Jacob. Now that he has announced it, today again the Minister just said he is revocating the C-of-O PDP Secretariat in Abuja.

“So, he wants to turn Nigeria into one single party and then his party doesn’t have any structure apart from Abdullahi Ganduje, who is the National Secretary of APC?

“No president has ever done this unless there is a crisis or something in a state. And then you bring military and police to take over the state without any crisis.

“The governor had kept on saying that he was going to implement the Supreme Court judgement. So, what else do you want him to do? Is this governance? This is total misuse of power.”
