Drama in the Senate: Akpabio’s Wife Slaps Natasha with ₦250bn Defamation Lawsuit

The Nigerian Senate just got a front-row ticket to a blockbuster showdown! Unoma Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has officially dragged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to court, demanding a jaw-dropping ₦250 billion in damages over alleged defamation and violation of fundamental human rights.

Natasha, who reps Kogi Central, claimed her woes in the Senate kicked off after she allegedly turned down a romantic advance from the Senate President himself!

Now, Madam Akpabio isn’t taking this lightly. She stormed the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, with two fiery lawsuits—one tackling fundamental rights violations (Suit No: CV/814/25) and the other a heavy-duty defamation case (Suit No: CV/816/25).

In her legal filings, Mrs. Akpabio insists that Natasha’s allegations have put her and her children in the direct line of emotional distress and public ridicule. She’s asking the court to declare Natasha’s claims a violation of her dignity under Nigeria’s Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

But that’s not all—she’s also demanding that Natasha keeps her name out of her mouth forever, with a perpetual injunction against making any further “damaging” statements.

In her second lawsuit, Mrs. Akpabio went full throttle, challenging Natasha’s claim that her husband made inappropriate advances. According to her, it’s all malicious, false, and pure character assassination. She wants the court to make Natasha print a full-page apology in two major newspapers—The Guardian and ThisDay—along with a ₦1 billion penalty for good measure.

“This whole saga has been a nightmare for me and my family,” Mrs. Akpabio said, adding that her husband is a “disciplined man who respects women.”

The beef started when Natasha showed up at the Senate one day and—boom—her seat had been moved! Shocked and unamused, she kicked up a storm, demanding answers. But instead of an explanation, the Senate referred her case to the Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions Committee, led by Senator Neda Imaseun (Edo South). They now have two weeks to submit their findings.
Plot Twist! Natasha Fights Back with Her Own ₦100bn Lawsuit

But Natasha isn’t backing down! She’s firing back with a ₦100 billion lawsuit of her own against Akpabio and his legislative aide, Mfon Patrick, for defamation.

Her legal team, led by Victor Giwa, is accusing Patrick of dropping some heavy insults on Facebook, where he allegedly mocked Natasha for thinking being a senator was all about makeup and transparent outfits.

Things went from messy to full-blown political warfare when Natasha appeared on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where she doubled down on her claims, accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment. According to her, some Senate insiders had warned her to accept the seat change because it was part of a grand setup.
