Convicted kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, widely known as Evans, has reportedly achieved academic success while incarcerated. According to his lawyer, Emefo Etudo, Evans earned A1 grades in all his NECO examinations taken in prison and is now a 200-level student at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). This educational pursuit was made possible through a Federal Government scholarship.
During a recent appearance before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, Evans expressed remorse for his past criminal activities. His legal counsel has submitted a plea bargain application to the Lagos State Government, seeking leniency and proposing that Evans be allowed to educate youths about the dangers of crime.
The court has adjourned the case to March 20, 2025, to review the plea bargain proposal and consider the next steps in the trial.
Evans’ transformation from a notorious criminal to a dedicated student has sparked discussions nationwide.
