Portable bags N2M bail, trial adjourned to March 5

The controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, has been granted N2 million bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta after facing assault and obstruction charges.

Portable, who had been on the Ogun State Police’s wanted list, surrendered himself at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) on Wednesday before being whisked away to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran. By Thursday, he found himself in court, answering to a five-count charge that included assault, conspiracy, armed conduct, and obstruction of government officials.

Despite the weight of the charges, the singer pleaded not guilty, while his lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, begged for leniency, claiming that Portable had “learnt his lesson.”

Magistrate O. L. Oke seemed to buy into that narrative—at least partially—granting bail at N2 million, with one surety in like sum. However, the drama is far from over as the case has been adjourned to March 5 for trial.

Nine of his aides were also dragged before the magistrate on similar charges. The accused, including Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26), were charged with felony, assault, obstruction, and disturbing public peace.

So, what exactly did Portable and his squad do? The trouble reportedly started on February 5, 2025, when the singer and his crew allegedly attacked three town planners—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero—who were simply doing their jobs at Odogwu Bar (Portable’s club) in the Sango area of Ogun State.

The Ogun State Government has since condemned the incident, calling Portable a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal”. But with his case set for trial in March, only time will tell whether Zazuu’s legal woes will end with another viral moment or a serious consequence.
