The FCT Police Command has saved a young woman from what could have been a tragic end in the hands of a suspected ritualist and armed robber in Abuja’s Wuse district. Now, the hunt is on for the fleeing suspect!
According to SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, the chilling incident happened on January 31, 2025, after hotel staff raised an alarm over suspicious activity in one of their rooms.
When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Promise Eze from Ebonyi State in a terrifying state—tied to a chair, mouth covered with plaster, and unconscious. Luckily, police acted fast, rushing her to Wuse District Hospital, where she regained consciousness.
Here’s where it gets even scarier—Promise had checked into the hotel a day earlier with a man she met online, who introduced himself as Michael Prince, an oil company worker from Delta State. But surprise, surprise—he actually registered under the name Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos.
Turns out, their supposed link-up was a setup. Instead of romance, the guy whipped out a dagger, tied her up, gagged her, and stole her phones before disappearing into thin air.
Before escaping, the victim overheard the suspect talking on the phone with accomplices, saying he was on his way to “regroup” before coming back to “finish the job.”
Now, the FCT Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt to track down the suspect before he strikes again. CP Olatunji Disu has urged everyone—especially young women—to be extra careful when meeting people from the internet.
