The President-Elect of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, further solidifying the growing diplomatic ties between the two West African nations.
According to a post on social media by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, the visit took place on Monday, with Mahama taking the time to meet with President Tinubu to discuss mutual interests and cooperation.
“This visit comes after Tinubu congratulated Mahama on his victory in Ghana’s December 7, 2024 general election. Tinubu expressed optimism that Mahama’s return to leadership will play a significant role in bolstering stability within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS),” Olusegun wrote on X.com (formerly Twitter).
In their phone conversation following Mahama’s victory, President Tinubu conveyed his congratulations and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Ghana. He expressed hope that Mahama’s leadership would bring about greater stability and progress to the West African region, with a focus on fostering collaboration in areas such as trade, security, and regional integration.
President Tinubu also emphasized the importance of working closely with Mahama’s incoming administration to build a brighter and more prosperous future for both nations and the broader ECOWAS community.
