Famous Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has won the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.
Running under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumelo defeated the incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He was declared the winner following the parliamentary election held during Ghana’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Dumelo secured 40,561 votes, while Alhassan received 27,377.
This victory marks a comeback for Dumelo, who previously contested for the same seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan.
Dumelo, who began his acting career in 1991 while still in school, has featured in numerous Gollywood and Nollywood films.
