Max Air Engine Fire: Borno Deputy Governor, 100+ Passengers Escape Unharmed

Borno State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Usman Kadafur, and over 100 passengers narrowly avoided disaster when a Max Air aircraft experienced engine failure shortly after departing Maiduguri International Airport.

Security expert Zagazola Makama revealed on X that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. A bird strike caused the engine failure about 10 minutes into the flight, which was en route to Abuja.

The pilot and crew managed to perform an emergency landing back at Maiduguri Airport, averting tragedy.

Following the landing, many passengers, shaken by the ordeal, opted to collect their belongings and cancel their travel plans. However, Max Air promptly arranged for another aircraft from Kano, ensuring willing passengers, including the Deputy Governor, continued their journey to Abuja safely.
