The Northern Youth Forum, has rose from an emergency meeting in Kano, Tuesday, reminding that Senator Barau Jibrin the Deputy President of the Senate, who brought Northwest Development Commission, can’t not be among who will destroy the region.
They said, “the Man who facilitated and championed the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission to boast the socioeconomic development of the region cannot be found in the race to destroying the same north.”
The Chairman of the forum, Yahaya Usman Kabo made this known while addressing journalists on the issues surrounding the controversial President Tinubu Tax Reforms Bill.
Kabo, who was reacting to the Deputy President of the Senate’s plenary presiding and the heated debate tied to him said blaming Barau is just a move orchestrated by enemies of Kano and the north to undermine him.
He said, “Northern people should understand the fact that it’s DSP Barau I Jibrin’s duty to presides over the plenaries in the absence of the Senate President, and he neither campaigned for nor advocated for the proposed tax reform bills; he only read the bills, quickly passed them to allow the public to make commitments, and invited experts to explain the systemic bills as he discerned that majority of the members including himself and many Nigerians as well don’t grasp what the bills entail.
“Besides, how come Sen. Barau I Jibrin who facilitated and championed the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission in his effort to boost socio economic development in the region, partakes in the cahoots of destroying the North? That’s impossible and unbelievable.”
He therefore called on the victims of what he termed as “misconception, orchestrated by the enemies of Kano and the North just to undermine Barau I Jibrin’s integrity in the eyes of his supporters to kindly disregard it.”
