The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) has handed over two recovered ambulances to Hajia Rakiya Maternally Hospital Sabon Birnin in Sokoto State.
According to reports, the vehicles were apprehended by ICPC officials through the Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative (CEPTI).
Garba Tukur-Idris, the ICPC Resident Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, presented the vehicles to community leader Alhaji Aliyu Gobir on behalf of the benefiting communities.
Tukur-Idris explained that the ambulances were part of a health clinic project initiated by former Senator Ibrahim Gobir, who represented the Sokoto-East Senatorial zone.
During the ICPC tracking exercise, the ambulances were found in different locations, contrary to the lawmaker’s stated destination.
The ICPC resident commissioner urged the council authority, healthcare workers, and community members to ensure the vehicles are used judiciously.
He highlighted the importance of the private sector in monitoring the implementation of constituency projects, emphasizing that completed projects foster growth and development at the grassroots level.
The community leader, District Head of Unguwar Mai lalle, expressed gratitude to the ICPC for its prompt response to public complaints and assured judicious use of the vehicles.
