In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 23-year-old man from Mncedisi Village, Lower Gweru, has been arrested and charged with assault after viciously attacking his mother. The incident, which occurred on November 18, 2024, has sparked outrage within the community.
According to reports, the man, who was intoxicated at the time, accused his mother of harboring hatred toward his wife. The confrontation escalated into violence as he threatened to kill her, making chilling remarks about decapitating her before launching a brutal assault.
In a fit of rage, the man struck his mother multiple times with an iron rod, targeting her left eye, forehead, and other parts of her body. He then went to the extreme of str!pping her nak3d, reportedly to prevent her from fleeing.
Her cries for help alerted neighbors, who rushed to her aid and rescued her from further harm. The victim sustained severe injuries, including a deep cut on her forehead and swelling around her left eye, necessitating immediate medical attention.
The man was subsequently arrested and charged with domestic violence. On November 29, 2024, he appeared before the Gweru Magistrates Court, where the full extent of his violent actions was revealed. He was found guilty and has been remanded in custody, awaiting sentencing on December 3, 2024.
