Police Alert Residents of Security Drill around Abuja Train Station

The Nigeria Police Force has informed residents of the Federal Capital Territory about a crisis response simulation exercise set for Thursday, November 28, 2024.

The drill, which is being organized in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, will occur around Idu Train Station from 9 am to 2 pm.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the exercise is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the readiness of security forces in responding to security threats across the nation.

“In furtherance of efforts in combating all forms of crimes and criminality in Nigeria, the Federal Government has initiated a joint operation and training exercise to prepare security forces to respond appropriately and adequately to security threats in Nigeria.

“In this regard, the Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on Thursday, 28th November 2024, from 9am to 2pm,” the statement read.

Residents are advised not to panic during the exercise, which will feature heavy sounds of explosives in a “controlled environment.”

The police assured the public that the simulation poses no danger and is designed to test emergency response capabilities.
