Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has once again appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with allegations of fund misappropriation.
Reports indicate that Bello arrived at the EFCC office on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team. The visit follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that upheld the constitutionality of the anti-graft agency’s operations.
Eyewitnesses noted that Bello drove himself to the EFCC office in a black Hilux vehicle. Despite earlier speculations last week about his potential visit, his media aides refrained from addressing the claims.
In related proceedings, the EFCC had previously brought fresh charges against Bello before Justice Maryanne Anenih at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja. At a hearing on November 14, the commission requested an adjournment to November 27, citing the 30-day summons window issued to the former governor.
Meanwhile, Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, were granted administrative bail. The EFCC also sought additional time for Bello’s arraignment. The court subsequently adjourned the case, setting the stage for further developments tomorrow.
