The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 individuals in Makurdi, Benue State, over alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The arrests were carried out by operatives from the EFCC Makurdi Zonal Directorate on Abu King Shuluwe Street, Akpehe, following credible intelligence about their fraudulent activities.
In a statement released on Tuesday via X, the EFCC disclosed that the operation led to the confiscation of various items, including two cars, five laptops, and 17 mobile phones. Investigations into the suspects’ activities are ongoing.
The agency stated, “The suspects were arrested at Abu King Shuluwe Street Akpehe, Makurdi metropolis based on actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.
“Items recovered from them include: two cars, five laptop computers, 17 mobile phones, among others. The suspects would be charged in court as soon as their investigations are concluded.”
