ARSENAL did what Manchester City could not by thrashing Sporting in Lisbon.
Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring on seven minutes before Kai Havertz tapped in for 2-0 on 22 minutes.
Gabriel Magalhaes headed home from yet another corner with the final touch of the first half.
And despite Goncalo Ignacio pulling one back for the hosts just after the break, Bukayo Saka restored the three-goal lead on 65 minutes from the penalty spot.
Then Leandro Trossard headed in a rebound within minutes of coming on to make it 5-1 – the first time the Gunners hit five away from home in the Champions League since 2008.
