Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with an NGO, The Challenge Initiative Nigeria (TCI), conducted a child birth spacing orientation to 100 Tea vendors across the state.
10 tea vendors were selected from 10 local government areas of the state participated in the one day orientation programme held at Sokoto Guest Inn hotel on Saturday.
“Teburin Mai Shayi”,means tea joint have remains a melting points where people with different experience gathers to drink tea and discuss issues, gathered and disseminates information as its relate to communities concern especially in the northern region.
The ten local government areas that participated in the family planning orientation includes, Kware,Wamakko, Gwadabawa,Wurno, Bodinga, Silame, Tambuwal, Dang/Shuni, Sokoto North and South respectively.
Alhaji Umar Jabbi a traditional ruler in the state advised the participants to take advantage of their various tea joints toward enlightening people on the importance to attend health facilities for child birth spacing and other health issues .
Jabbi who described family planning as an important tool for planning economy, befitting healthier households,community or society.
Experts on family planning from various medical institutions in the state, personnel of TCI and primary health care enlightened the participants on FP and other health related issues.
