Afrobeats icon Davido has weighed in on the rising trend of African Americans expressing interest in relocating to Africa.
Speaking during an appearance on The Big Homies House podcast, Davido shared his reservations about the idea, highlighting the significant challenges facing the continent, especially in his home country, Nigeria.
When asked by host Big Homie Kodaq about his thoughts on African Americans wanting to return to their ancestral roots, Davido responded candidly, saying, “Leave America and go where?”
He elaborated on the economic difficulties and systemic issues affecting African countries. Speaking from experience as someone raised in Nigeria after being born in Atlanta, Georgia, the artist remarked, “It’s not cool back home…The economy now is in shambles.”
