The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has pledged to collaborate with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to prevent human trafficking during the Hajj exercise.
This commitment was made following a visit by a NAPTIP delegation from the Bauchi State Command to the Executive Secretary of the board, Abdurrahman Idris, in his office. According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the board’s Information Officer, Idris emphasized that Bauchi State is leading efforts in the fight against human trafficking to protect both the state’s and the country’s reputation.
The visit, according to Idris, was a source of motivation, and he assured that the board would strengthen its partnership with NAPTIP to ensure a smooth and secure Hajj operation.
According to him, “The NAPTIP will be included at all stages of the hajj operation to ensure an adequate pilgrims education and enlightenment on the menace.”
Earlier, the state commandant of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking with Persons Mansur Ahmad said the visit was aimed at building the relationship with the board with a view to supporting the board to have a hitch-free hajj exercise.
