Tinubu Made Every Effort to Save Lagbaja’s Life – Acting Chief of Army Staff

The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, has said  that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took all possible measures to save the life of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

In a conversation with select reporters, General Oluyede conveyed the deep grief resonating through the Nigerian Army over the loss of its leader. “His death is highly regrettable,” Oluyede stated. “Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the country did everything possible to keep him with us. He was someone who gave his all to Nigeria.”

Oluyede praised Lagbaja’s selflessness and dedication, calling him a leader of courage, diligence, and professionalism.

 

“He led the Nigerian Army with courage, thoroughness, and professionalism. His loss is a profound one for us, and we pray that the good Lord will grant him rest,” he said.

The Acting Chief encouraged Nigerians to honour Lagbaja’s legacy, reflecting on his unwavering commitment to the country. “I want Nigerians to truly celebrate him for the good work he did,” Oluyede added.

Lieutenant General Lagbaja, aged 56, passed away while receiving treatment in Lagos after battling an undisclosed illness. Following his passing, General Oluyede was appointed Acting Chief of Army Staff and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General.
