Tinubu, New Ministers Arrive Council Chambers for Swearing-In Ceremony

President Bola Tinubu, along with seven new ministerial appointees and their families, has arrived at the Council Chambers in Abuja for the swearing-in ceremony. Channels TV confirmed on Monday that all seven nominees are present and seated, marking the start of the event at the Presidential Villa.

Other ministers and dignitaries were also in attendance to witness the ceremony. Notably, the usual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled to Wednesday.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced on Sunday that the swearing-in ceremony would take place on Monday.

The new appointees are:

  • Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
  • Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour and Employment
  • Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
  • Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment
  • Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development
  • Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
  • Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State for Education

This swearing-in follows the Senate’s recent screening and confirmation of the nominees, part of President Tinubu’s cabinet reshuffle aimed at addressing economic challenges. The president previously dismissed five ministers, nominated seven new ones, and reassigned ten ministers to different portfolios. Tinubu’s original cabinet of 48 ministers, established in August 2023, has faced scrutiny amid tough economic conditions.
